The following are a few quick studies I did this past week using standard PS brushes.

THE ALLEY
This painting is hopefully a start to exploring more urban-esque scenes. I find myself being captivated by night-time environments such as these. The different types of night lights used to illuminate our streets and signages are really interesting. There are tungsten, fluorescent, and even neon lights that create a fantastic range of colors. For this painting, I explored some of these effects as well as textures found in many of our city alleyways. A variety of different brushes were used while creating a some energy by way of small squiggly lines.

THE FACTORY
Inspired by urban landscapes, this piece mixes intense greens with a hit of pink and turquoise.

THE SUNSET
Sunsets are great to explore. You can see deeply saturated colors like reddish-oranges in the sky and the deep purples in the terrain shadows.

THE FUNNEL
The swirling vortex of wind and debris created by funnel makes for a good chance to try out some brushes!

KYOTO
This study was based off of a photo looking down a small alley street in Kyoto. I was impressed by the colors, especially the warm and cool interplay between the distant areas and the foreground elements.
